Yeah but my friends who went home for Tet were telling me that the prices of things in Ha Noi are getting more and more expensive. I don;t understand how a country in the middle of a global economic recession can have such astronomical levels of inflation.

I m puzzled too

For example, we can go to a pub/ktv to open 1 bottle of hard liquor, maybe abt S$200, its about in the range of 10% of average monthly salary of sgp. But if a vietnamese went to theirs and open 1, it could be their 1 month's pay (around there)......:rolleyes::eek:

Re: Hanoi

brief field report...Posted and I checked out Dragonfly, the place was still empty 22.15 on a Thursday. Then toilet pub in the same street, nothing there as well, only 1 girl, got her number, left. Checked out another toilet pub (or loo or whatever), empty. What's wrong with Hanoi. Posted took me to Hale club, nice bargirls. We had 6 at our table, they asked which of them I like most, I said Posted, I am gay. But I will definitely come back to Hale, friendly bargirls.

The girl DJ looked nice, I walked up to her before we left, and got her number.

Just sent a msg to her. Answer: "ai do?". uhm. Maybe I had too much liquid courage yesterday.

update...nope...there she comes along: Nho roi!

I agree with you. Girls are still asking for 100 USD per night excluding sitting tips which work out to be 120 USD per night. On top of that they will leave at 6 am in the morning which they consider overnight. It is more like 1 shot.

There's not much smoke there, no loud music, she can leave early (10.30), it's quiet, and there are mostly innocent tourists with too much money there. And champagne pays well.

I think she has a future in business. She knows what she wants, and she usually gets it.

Girls should be handled in the same way. Keep your sights at what you want, aim well, and shoot...

Sounds like you have it made mate!

Anh Jack, you've just hit the nail on the head. For example, when I went to eat at Quan An Ngon in 2006, it was 40,000 VND avg per head and I thought that was quite ex for 1 bun oc and a ca phe sua nong for me (total bill was 165,000VND for 4 pax). I was thinking "na beh, kena chop carrot head."

Late last year I went to Quan Ngon again and only 2 people eat ordered 3 ca phe,1 tra da and 2 pho bo was 135,000VND! I was like, WTF?

At local KTV in Giang Vo last June, one bottle of shitty black label (dunno real one or made in china type) was 75 USD, not including other parasitical tips, etc. IF in HN people normally earn about USD300 a month, then how to play in local KTV?

You are the man. HN pussy is all under your control. I will go and play in HCMC from now on. :D

Re: Hanoi

I am totally not in control. I wish I could just not care about girls. I am like a poor hungry boy who just got a taste of some delicious food. The seniors here pointed me in the right direction, where to find it, I liked the taste of it, but I am still too hungry and far too eager to be good at this game. I think the true secret to seduction is not to get too involved, not to care too much, and of course not to fall in love. I am far from there. Very far. Maybe in a few years, when I have learnt more, when I am relaxed like DepTrai, I will be in control of myself. When you are in control of yourself, you are in control of pussies. I am not.

Deep Sea fishing can be fun, but I am not in control and it makes me tired. So yesterday was at Hanoi Hotel and Boss at Fortuna to relax, saturday, should be big night, bad for visits there, but Hanoi Hotel almost empty, a group of Vietnamese in the main room, taking advanted of the "all you can drink" offer, a few at the bar, very few rooms booked. Lots of girls.

I chose one, asked her a couple of questions, like how many children she has. Quite a few of the girls there have children, most will answer honestly, but she didn't, her stomach was crumpled like the face of a ba gia. At least I got to practice my Vietnamese with her.

Then went to Boss to compare, probably not more people there, but Boss is smaller, so looks fuller. They put up a sign on the entrance now "FOR MEMBERS ONLY". I guess everyone who knows what to find there is a member :)

The selection of girls at Boss was not so good, the choice at Hanoi Hotel much better. There is one there I would like to meet. If anyone would like to visit to Hanoi Hotel some time, just ask me...

salary USD300 a month, 1000 in exceptional cases, close to 2000 if you're prime minister.

salary is the smallest part of earnings, the rest are commissions, kickbacks, gifts...I talked to a girl who works for an adoption agency. She's 23, no university, but smart, from the south. Her main job is to deal with provincial gov't officials, and dealing with foreigners who want to adopt. She makes around 500$ per month in salary. On top of that - 1500$ a month in kickbacks and commissions, the people who want to adopt need lots of services, translations, documents, approvals. And she tells me she always tries to show them reasonably priced places, not overpriced, and I believe her. I am sure, if she wanted, she could make 2 times as much per month. Vietnam is full of opportunities :)

Newsflash (at least for me): Relax (I) will be closing in around week. Anyway now it's only a shadow of what it was, after Relax (II) came.

Wow... Relax I closing? Didn't see that one coming, thought Dung wanted to maximize earnings by spreading his bar around. But then again, with the troubles with his wife and in-laws, no wonder Relax I closing. Come to think of it, maybe that's why he opened up R2 in the first place.
Incidentally, a new Bia Om just opened across from my house. Saw it when I got back home from the airport last night, and took a casual stroll in. Pretend to be a blur foreigner to see if they take advantage, but they didn't. Heine's at 25K and nice pretty girls around. Smallish place, but can be worth an early hangout. Will update after a more in depth recce there.

The story of Relax I and II is not about the boss wanting to spread out with more branches but its about a breakdown in Partnership and each taking their negotiated share. In this case, the boss you mentioned went with Relax II and made it work better than Relax I and took all the Biz from Relax I so it has to close.

We need to check and report the new joint you mentioned, heh heh heh. Restoor, you coming too?
