Re: Hanoi

big flood in central VN. nothing in HN.

FR: 5th visit to Bong Sen II Hotel, for massage. It's on Yen Phu Street, same side as Sofitel Plaza, maybe 200m further down. I always forget the number, but it's easy to see, big sign "Sauna Massage". There's a polite bao ve to take care of motorbike, never asks for tip. The reception is usually run by 2 serious looking young girls in Ao Dai. I normally pay 200K Dong for 1.5h massage in a VIP room with steambath and jacuzzi, including a drink (I like to drink bottled water in the steambath). Today there was an old pig in the reception who wanted me to pay 400K for 2h, but after some discussion I got my usual price.

Rooms are new, civilized, no bad smell, nicely made, lots of wood. If you are shown to the spa section on the ground floor, ask for a VIP room with steambath and jacuzzi instead (I never paid extra for a VIP room). The spa section on the ground floor is also ok, but it's built for several customers at the same time, and unfortunately no girls there, and after you'll be shown to a smaller room for massage.

All girls seem to be from Can Tho. There are some relatively fresh arrivals, but also some girls who have been in HN for a while and will try to speak a northern dialect (tease them for it!). The girls clothes are quite traditional and tight sitting, not ideal for those who like to put their fingers everywhere, but of course they can be opened.

Girls are different, like everywhere, some are playful and funny, some are serious and require more work, some will say they have a boyfriend, some seem to be eager to meet a boyfriend. There are 13 girls, all live in the hotel, and eat all their meals there (probably they don't enjoy northern food very much anyway....but if anyone here knows a good restaurant with southern food...let me know). Of the ones I tried, all but one girl gave me a very good massage, and the one who didn't was very playful in other ways.

The girls start working at 12. I tipped between 80K and 250K. The place is quite busy, probably because it's good value, so some girls are able to earn around 6-7 million per month in tips (no salary of course). I did not see any fancy phones or motorbikes, so all the money gets sent to the south I guess.

Recommended :) but don't spoil them with too much tips please :)

Halle, a disco. A lot of waitress to "look" after you. Cute SYT.

Dragonfly, a pub with disco attached. Quite a number of chio ladies who are there for ONS.

Funky Buddha, a pub with groups of guys n gers. No point wasting time here.

I will go Dragonfly again after my BKK trip.

going to halong bay at any time is ok, in cold weather, you just bring along a biological heater that will stay constant at 37 deg C +/- 0.5 deg C throughout the day. Make sure it has all the right curves as well. You can rent one in Hanoi and bring along with you on your Halong trip.
