thanks to the power of Prayers over Easter, the Typhoon had to tuck it's tails (or so the religious folks insist .. though that prayer was not properly dispensed during Yolanda I guess .. )

MANILA, Philippines—“Chedeng” (international name: Maysak) weakens into a tropical depression as it remains stationary on the eastern seaboard of Aurora province, the local weather bureau said early Sunday.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Chedeng” is expected to remain quasi-stationary in the next six hours with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

“The estimated rainfall amount is from light to moderate within the 75 km radius of the tropical depression,” it said.

PS, that bad part is drought is expected, and brown outs are still in the pipeline .. come June/July !

hi all,

will be hitting phillippines shores soon...:) will head straight to AC but gonna stay the last night in manila before heading back home... been reading up on info regarding the usual go to places in manila like burgos, edsa, mbc, ktvs n such but would love to hear recommendation from members about non girlie bars or clubs, good place to hang out, catch some shows or nice bands playing... i know this a forum for info on mongering places so my apologies if my questions are not relevant here but in any case any info is very much appreciated... thank you in advance...

Moonshine Bar, Unit 1C, Valdelcon Building, Jupiter Street, Barangay Bel-Air, Makati

Gramercy 71, at The Gramercy, Kalayaan Ave., Cor. Salamanca St., Century City, Makati (if they have private events, you may be denied entry, and on other days, they may impose a minimum consumable order, of 10K I think, which comes with a table)

And rule #1, don't, for FFS, get too drunk if you are alone

Some of the places have rich kids/politicos kids, and the bodyguards are within hearing range

Should you try something funny, without being invited, you may have a bit of landmarks on your face (I know, I am a bit scared person, as some seniors say, but I have seen what happens in those places, when some newbie tries to be funny ... one was physically thrown out of a bar, even though he had just paid for a table, as he tried to hug a girl .. no clue who she was .. just that there were 4 barong tagalog wearing guys loitering near her .. )

And having a local who is exposed, not the types who are star struck of scared more than you, helps smoothen stuff ...

thank you for reply... that moonshine bar sounds good... gramercy looks bit too posh crowd but might be worth a look... dont worry wont be hugging unknown girls cuz that just a recipe for disaster in any bar :D thanks again for the info and if any more suggestions please keep them coming... cheers..

there was a club run by a Singaporean guy, in Fort, but I think it's temporarily paused operation.

There used to be a Wine Bar in Salcedo, called Tabu, nice ambiance .. not sure if that too is operating
