Yes, you are right. LTSVP only gives the spouse the right to remain in singapore for the immigration granted time , subject to renewal. Other than that, it doesn't give the holder the rights enjoyed by spouse that holds PR. Application for immediate family members to remain in singapore will be much tougher.

Hi guys..

I just got back from hcm a couple of days back.. It was a bittersweet trip.. I broke off with my vn girl.. Found out that her first love is back into her life! She likes both of us and I think she's weighing both of us.. It's painful cos she's a nice girl and all.. I noticed that she acted kind of strangely with me.. Not like when I was there on my last trip.. I just shrug it off.. Her friends then informed me about the first love after I kept asking them bout her.. I lost it man! I left my ego back in sg but it landed! They told me that she also like me but when I asked who she like more, all of them said she likes the first love more! They told me that in vn, all first love overwrites everything! WTF!!! so I confronted her! She denied! She then said that we should be friends instead cos it was too fast between us! And she wants to start slow and she like me! I told her NO! cos it's too painful! She left and cried! Now I feel like shit! Am I doin the right thing? Or should j just battle it out with the first love and may the best man win? And what's up with the first love thingy?

This girl is toying with your feelings. I can understand the hurt u must have felt since u travelled all the way to HCM to meet her, and she tells u that the 2 of u should just remain as friends!!:mad::eek:

Well, sometimes it hurts when u get to know somemore better, especially after u have spent so much time and $$$ on her. My cheong-kakis always tell me that Singaporeans are easy prey for them b'cos we are too kind-hearted.

Anyway, my advice is that u should not contact her anymore, and move on the next target. U DESERVE BETTER!!:D:cool:

Thks bro for earlier advice. In fact my wife already got her PR, and she is the sponsor for my mother-in-law, but ICA still did not approve the LSTVP application. I thk ICA want to retrict foreigners from staying in singapore.:)

Hi guys... i just got married with my viet wife recently and now i encounter some problems which i would like to hear some pointers from bros in here...

my wife just went back to vietnam to see her family in her village..she said she wan to wear the golds which were given to her from the marriage... i told her don wear la cos go back to village wearing so much gold dangerous mah... later people snatch the golds ok nvm...wat if the robber use knife to stab how? den she lan lan never wear to vietnam... Now when we talk thru the phone earlier on she say her father not happy why she never wear gold go back...saying that like that the neighbours see liao like no face like that..and her father even questioned her whether i really love her or not... if love her y never let her wear the gold back... scared she run away isit...wa lao eh...never let her wear gold means don love her? and now my wife is upset over this... i mean...wat the hell is this..? wat is it with wearing gold? wear gold liao got alot of face meh..? is it more important to have face or safety more important? and now the father is getting more and more money minded...keep on talking abt money...wtf...

bros can give me some advices and pointers? feeling damn vexed...:mad:

alo alo...we discussed this before and mentioned that Vietnamese wants their face very important...anyway no choice lor...just let them talk...quickly ask wife to come back Singapore...brainwash her to save money rather than spent money...tell her start to save for family and when no money nobody care about both of you...work out the sum to show her how much you need to save per month for baby...:)

haha, i m glad that more bros are starting to get a feel of the viet culture. To the viets, gold is very impt. Got gold, got diamond means rich n all foreigners are deemed rich. daughters who marry foreigners are deem to have found gold mines overseas too. When a daughter who married a foreigner goes bk to her village, she has to go bk with pride n having gold all over the body is necessary. this will give the family FACE n neighbours n relatives will be envious. at the same time, the mother n sisters can act poor n pathetic n strip their viet-kieu daughter of her gold. in vietnam, you can sell off yr gold jewelleries for a mere 15% loss, but of course, provided its real pure gold.

the most impt person is yr wife. if she loves you, she will know life in singapore is not easy. hv gold or not is not impt. but if she wants face, she will pressure you to buy gold for her. n even if she has baby, she may abandon you n baby for another man who can buy her more gold. you know yr wife the best. communicate with her n make her understand. don't dream the immpossible in reality singapore. ;)

My advise to u is to be a bad son-in-law. I hv been a bad son-in-law for a couple of years, and hv save me alot of trouble. :D
