For DISCO: best time is 1am-4am. (nearly all the week, although of course Sunday and Monday are slower)

For PUB: best time is 12am-2am (Thursday through Saturday to see local regular girls)

Thanks for the tips in timings for the pubs and discos, mate. Obviously I went during the wrong timings... crossed them over; went to discos too early and pubs too late.
Will be in Batam again 29 Dec to 3 Jan. Will keep all of your advice in mind.
