Some do, some don't. Some speak fluent Mandarin, and could easily pass off as locals. Some have problems in translation, and i've had to use Google translate to translate back and forth with them - but in those cases we treated it as something funny and not really a mood spoiler, so i didn't mind.
VP himself tends to indicate which girls have basic/moderate/good proficiency in which language - you can see on each girl's thread. I have to say i've been quite lucky, never had one with communication so bad that it spoils the mood (i saw one bro here had such an experience, my sympathies to him that sounds horrible).
