Tobita probably don’t need. They were waving at me before I said anything. And got a lot of Korean chiongsters there. I think should be super foreigner friendly.
The other two I not too sure as I didn’t use any English at all. I would say just go and try and see if you can make it with just English. Otherwise you won’t know. But it’s true these places will test me on whether I know the system or understand what is going on. For example at the pink salon, the staff pointed at a picture of a classroom and asked me to describe what it is in Japanese. I was able to describe it well and he was like “oh okay great. We can accept you”. He later explained the system to me and asked me if I understand the rules. I said “yup I understand” and everything after became very smooth sailing. Overall the staff are very polite once they ascertain that they can accept you as a customer.
I don’t think it has to do with nationality as well (as long as you are chinese, or Korean. I’m pretty sure they didn’t know I was singaporean. So means Korean, China, Singapore, Eurasian all can.
