What do you think of Singaporeans

I have friends (both male and female) telling me that they have lost hope in Singaporeans. Some posts in this forum also imply the same. Just wondering if pastures elsewhere are always greener.

When I travel around the region I also find that people (especially girls) find their local counterparts to be very unattractive. Singaporeans seem to be of rather high demand. But back in town, people are looking outwards.

Sometimes I feel Singaporeans are still looking at the local dating pool, but somehow they're angry at something i couldn't place. The general conception is that Singapore males are cheating, boring or unattractive. Singapore females are arrogant and demanding. I hear them, but when I look around, this isn't really the case.

So for discussion sake, what would your honest opinion of Singaporeans be?

No I'm Singaporean, been here all my life. I travel around when I work.

Your general perception is very uncalled for, I do believe not all are boring and unattractive

Now your statement u talk about females! so above this you are referring to the MALE population?

No I'm Singaporean, been here all my life. I travel around when I work.

I am curious to know your identity, so that I can re-define your intention of this questions.

Be yourself, look inwards your own character and behaviour, if you find yourself is something above that you mention, then do soul seraching, change your boring style to be a more interesting guy..

Just want to say I agree with you. This is just the perception i get from my friends and I don't agree with it as well.

Because the female think that Singapore males are cheating, boring or unattractive. and the males think that females are arrogant and demanding. Again... these are opinions I gathered and I'm not trying to generalize. Just saying that these opinions exist.

I think Singaporeans are generally quite negative when it comes to voicing out through the public channel. Its like listening to perfectionists who are speaking as if whatever happened to them were caused by factors beyond their control. Like you, almost all of my Singaporean friends are looking for a partner who is local. They do understand that perhaps local girls are well-informed and brought up being equivalent to boys, therefore their own perception of a gf or wife have been moderated (as they compare with perhaps their mum or grandmother who was subservient to their spouse) well enough to find them a person to agree with.

But when it comes to a public channel, esp websites like this, man you hear all sorts of things and they seemed all supported by anecdotes, if not pure outrage and resignations that whatever negative things they mentioned sound so damn real.

I am not trying to say that Singapore got no bitches or bastards, but I just get a feeling that Singaporeans haven't really try hard enough. One bad experience and wham that's it. Perhaps it is easier to resign to it, complain and ultimately find someone safe to be with, I dunnoe, that's just how I feel.

Are Singaporeans of 'high demand'? That depends on who is demanding la. To most girls, yeah, Singaporeans are easier to control, our current generation X listens to orders quite well. But if you think you are a lot more eligible just because you are a Singaporean, dun be too happy. Most girls will look for security some time in their life when they need to settle down. If you are young and you like to get a SYT for a gf, you need to be interesting, generous, flashy and bold. That doesn't mean you will settle down with her cos within a few short years she will turn into a person who needs only security.

Problem is that guys following through such changes tend to hate it when they are no longer appreciated for who they are (although they still try to be interesting or whatever) and increasingly being subjected to 'unreasonable' demands to transform into a new-age sensitive guy. You dun have to charming, you dun have to be interesting, all you need is to provide enough security. If you can't provide that, your girl will try to get it by controlling you. For guys who aren't sure of what's happening to their gf, they'll usually come off completely clueless and resentful (my girl suddenly become demanding and a control freak!). I think this will further worsen if the guy breaks off with the girl, found another SYT and suddenly realised he needs to transform back to a casanova!

But of cos I'm a Singaporean. If I go through such shit, I may complain like hell too. Haha..

my father retire at 55...y ? bcos it was den n can afford to
now retiremnet age from 55 to 60 to 62 n to 68...mean only the economy cannot sustain...
my father 3 rm hdb 15k, now 3 rm hdb 300k and got COV one....
silliporean r so bothered with the economy, bread n butter, cost of living, a roof over their heads not the liitle head ....

Singaporean men are already very lucky, bar the Women's Charter. Men marry down, women marry up. How many eligible men are there for Singaporean women to marry up in this world? As for the average Singaporean men, don't need to look too far, the entire ASEAN region is our oyster.
