In 22/23, after 35 games Arsenal had 81 points, so they would still be 2nd behind us now.

Last season, after 35 games, Arsenal had 80 points, so, again, still 2nd.

Arsenal has been on an inconsistent run for some time now. They lost their last home match against Bournemouth. If we win the match, they may end up missing out on CL next season. The other CL chasing teams are on much better form recently.

Season's over so I took some days to think through this question. Over the years, there are 2 departures that are very memorable to me.

The first is when we sold Peter Beardsley to Everton. Beardsley is like the original Bobby Firmino. Good in link up play, makes visionary passes, not the fastest on the pitch. We sold him to our local rivals and given that Everton was the biggest threat to Liverpool in the 80s, selling Beardsley to them in 1991 makes no sense. He scored 46 goals for us in 4 seasons and 25 goals for Everton in 2 seasons. He then left for Newcastle and scored 47 goals for them in 4 PL seasons. That's an average of 12 goals for the next 6 seasons. Remember I said he is the original Bobby Firmino. So his assist ratio is also high.

I only counted the goals he scored in the league. If we add in the FA Cup and League Cup, he scored many more goals. His departure hurts very deeply because we went into long term decline after 1990. As our team struggles to score in subsequent seasons, it hurts to see him scoring well for other teams. Always in the right place at the right time. A term we don't use these days to describe many strikers.

The 2nd player that hurts when he left us is Owen. As a local player, he is still the only Liverpool player who won the Ballon d'Or. Many girls I know become Liverpool supporters because of him and Jamie Redknapp. Just imagine a diehard Liverpool fan naming his son Owen. By the time, the kid goes to primary school, his classmates will ask him if his father is a Man U fan!

He is a traitor for trying to leave Liverpool on a free transfer. He is a traitor twice over for joining Man U. He even celebrates when he scores a goal for Man U against us. For such a world class player, it is uncommon that he isn't well liked by the fans of the clubs he played for (Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Man U). The dumbest thing our club can do is to appoint him as a global ambassador for Liverpool in 2016. Fowler played with him. Fowler is God, he is Judas.
